Toledo Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection to a fatal hit and run crash from Friday morning.

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Derrick Christopher Gulch, of Toledo, the same afternoon.

TPD Lt. Jeff Sulewski said the tipster called police after hearing about the crash on local media.

The witness was able to provide investigators with a license plate number and vehicle description.

Officials say that information and car parts collected at the North Toledo crash site lead them to Gulch.

The Ford F-150 pick-up truck, owned by Gulch, has been seized as evidence.

Investigators believe Gulch hit and killed 26-year-old Thressa L. James with his truck.

She was found lying unresponsive on the side of the road, at N. Detroit Avenue and Willamont, around 3:30 a.m.

James was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was sent to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
