The Holland man involved in two standoffs with police has been sentenced for one of his crimes.
Michael Swiergosz, 47, was sentenced to seven years behind bars for firing a shot near his wife during a standoff at his Holland home in March 2009. He is awaiting trial on charges stemming from a second stand-off that took place a month after the first incident.
Police say Swiergosz held his wife hostage at her workplace, the Sunset House retirement home, in late April. He allegedy held her captive in a back room of the Ottawa Hills facility for five hours.
A trial date is set for Jan. 26 for the second incident.
