Hollywood Casino aims to curb gambling addiction

A Toledo casino is educating the public about gambling addictions. It seems ironic, but that's what the Hollywood Casino is doing to bring those numbers down.

Toledo Mayor Mike Bell was on hand for the ceremony and told WNWO that for the casino, it's all about priorities.

"What this period of time is to remind people to be responsible when they come out. We want people to have fun, but we want them to be responsible because we understand that there are other obligations that people have. They need to make sure they take care of their priorities before an entertainment venue," Bell said.

The responsible gaming education week continues until August 9.

A revenue report released from the Ohio Casino Control Commission reveals Toledo collected $14.3 million in February. Revenue was up in January and February after it opened its doors May 2012.

WNWO asked Mayor Mike Bell how the casino can balance the need for creating business and curbing gambling addictions.
