The Hollywood Casino Toledo had an extraordinary month of June. According to the Ohio Casino Control Commission the Penn National Gaming facility generated over $235 million in the month of June. After payouts to patrons and payment of taxes, the casino profited more than $22 million. According to Patrick McLean, the Finance Director for the city of Toledo, the city received a tax payment of $531,617. "We're very pleased and we are right on target as we thought we would have $3.4 million for the year and if we extrapolate this over 7 months we'll get there," Mr. McLean said.
Toledo city councilman Mike Craig, in whose district the casino sits, said the casino's early success is good news for Toledo. "To have them do well in the first month shows that they did their homework and that they chose the site correctly," Councilman Craig said.
The half million dollar plus tax payment to Toledo has already been factored in to the city's budget this year.
