Two young lives are cut short after a six car pile up in South Toledo Monday morning.
No one from the Toledo Police Department was available for comment, but a source in the department tells us, the driver of a white Toyota headed toward downtown on the Anthony Wayne Trail crossed the median and slammed head on into oncoming traffic just before 8:00 this morning.
Zyeri White, 6, and Devine Chatman, 11, were killed when the car they were in was hit, flipped over a pick up truck, and landed on it's roof. Both children were on their way to school at Harvard Elementary School.
"Devine, he was really nice.", says Donald Gillespie, a friend of both victim. "He was a guard. He let us go for some stuff. Me personally. Zyeri, he was always playful and was just fun to be around."
Six people were sent to the hospital after the accident. A police source tells NBC 24 News, the driver who caused the accident did not appear to be drunk; was not using her cell phone at the time of the crash; and does not have any medical conditions that would cause her to black out.
