The heat is on Tuesday. For those who like heat and humidity it's the day for you and you'd better enjoy it while you can.
We last saw high temps get into the 90's on the 16th and 17th of June, before the official start of summer on 6/21. It looks like we're headed into the lower 90's for highs Tuesday and with dew points getting into the mid 60's we will be feeling heat indices climbing into the mid 90's.
It has been an unseasonably cool first month of summer so be sure to take precautions this afternoon with plenty of breaks from the full force of the oppresive heat and humidity. Be sure to wear light colored, loose fitting clothing if you'll be spending a good amount of time outdoors this afternoon. The most important thing, especially with a healthy southerly breeze that will wick your sweat away, STAY HYDRATED!
The heat will not be sticking around for long as another shot of unseasonably cool, dry air moves in Wednesday behind a cold front which will give us scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms overnight. Lows will be near 70 degrees.
The showers and storms rumble eastward by Wednesday afternoon and will be replaced by a cooler, drier airmass. Sunshine will be breaking out Wednesday afternoon with much cooler highs in the upper 70's.
We'll see another very comfortable end to the work week as high pressure moves into the region. Plenty of sunshine in on tap Thursday and Friday with high temps in the mid and upper 70's!
The weekend is still pretty far off but the models are trending towards Saturday being the best bet to do what you need/want to do outside as we'll be dry for most of the day before showers move in late in the day. Sunday looks to offer periods of scattered t'showers. High temps will be in the lower 80's.
So enjoy the rare visit of heat and humidity today... find a friend with a pool or boat and stay cool. Relief is on the way!
