I-75 NB shutdown in Toledo after crash, May involve wrong way driver

Around 9:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Toledo Police began to shutdown I-75 Northbound near the Ottawa River Road exit following a multi-vehicle crash.

Dispatchers say the call came in around 9 p.m. and reported that a wrong way driver had been involved in a collision near mile marker 210.

Reports from the scene indicate the wrong way driver was the only person injured.

Drivers are being rerouted from the area. Others are urged to stay away from the scene.

Officials say the roadway will likely open around midnight but could take until 5 a.m. to clean-up.

Scanner traffic also indicates that the Ohio Department of Transportation was called to the scene to remove "large debris" scattered onto the roadway.

The wrong way driver is believed to have hit between 3 and 4 vehicles, including at least one semi-truck and a van.

Authorities say that the motorist may have gotten onto the roadway at SR-184 (Alexis Road).
