Adams Street in Uptown Toledo was transformed today by local businesses who turned metered parking spots outside their buildings into public spaces for PARK(ing) Day. The companies took a metered spots and turn it into whatever kind of public space they could dream up. Spaces in the past have been turned into many different things such as bike repair shop, political seminars, gardens, and they have even been used for wedding ceremonies.
This is the second year for the event in Uptown Toledo. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban space in the community and how public space is used. Once the event is over the groups will tear down their mini parks and the area will again turn into a parking space.
