Jeremy Lincoln knew very early in his career in the National Football League that he wanted to show his appreciation to his hometown of Toledo. For the last 16 years the Devilbus High School graduate has come to Toledo during the Thanksgiving week to give away free turkey dinners. The turkey giveaway is just one of the projects performed by the Jeremy Lincoln Foundation. Throughout Tuesday afternoon 250 people came to collect their free food, including Paula Slaughter of Toledo. "I think it is a good thing because for me as a working mother with small kids you have a lot of bills to pay, so to be able to receive a turkey, it's a great blessing," Ms. Slaughter said.
Students from St. John's Jesuit High School were on hand to pack the baskets and help people carry them to their cars. Sophomore student Sam Edwars appreciated the opportunity to help out. "I think it's a good thing for the community," Mr. Edwars said.
Jeremy Lincoln played college football for the University of Tennessee and spent ten years in the NFL playing for the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants.
