Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has picked up key endorsements in her primary election contest against fellow Democrat Dennis Kucinich. Kaptur has been endorsed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Toledo Blade, two of the largest and most prominent daily publications in the state. "We have gotten the endorsement of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Loraine Morning Journal and the Toledo Blade," Congresswoman Kaptur said.
Because of redistricting Kaptur's Toledo district and Kucinich's Cleveland district are being merged necessitating that the two Democrats face off against each other in the March 6 primary. Marcy Kaptur was first elected to represent Ohio's 9th Congressional Distrcit in 1982. She has won re-election 14 times since then. When Ross Perot ran for president in 1992 he asked Ms. Kaptur to be his running mate but she declined.
Last week Representative Kucinich opened up his Toledo office in the 1000 block of Broadway.
