Monroe-based furniture maker La-Z-Boy is looking to invest up to $50 million to build a new headquarters there.
The company says if all goes as planned the new office campus would be built on 80 acres of land bought from the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The Monroe Evening News says the company wants to keep its headquarters in Monroe, where it's been since it was founded in 1927. But the paper says La-Z-Boy is also considering other sites in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio.
There are about 500 workers at the Monroe headquarters.
