The 8th annual Helping Hands for Haiti fundraiser runs until 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, located at 601 E. Boundary St.

Perrysburg based Missions International of America, or MIA, is behind the mission which provides aid to people in Haiti as they continue to cleanup from a devastating earthquake that rocked the country in 2010.

With a silent auction, bake sale, and Haitian jewelry sales, all to help raise funds that go directly to the 300 students attending the K â?? 6, Brad Reddick School in Savanette, Haiti.

Jan and Jay Nielson founders of the MIA explained just how important this fundraiser is to the Haitians. â??This (fundraiser) operates the school for the year, the cost of paying staff, nine teachers, an administrator and feeding the children is just about what we take in today,â?? Jay said. â??This is our biggest fundraiser of the year by far.â??

It takes around $35,000 to operate the school. Missions International of America hope to exceed $32,000 at Sundayâ??s fundraiser.
