A local dog rescue will be training Toledo-area veterinarians to perform a new surgery-free way to neuter dogs and pet owners can benefit from their efforts.

The Lucas County Pit Crew needs 25 healthy male dogs, between 3 and 10 months old, to take part in Friday's training.

As participants, the dogs will receive free Zeuterin neutering which is a non-surgical option for sterilization.

Zeuterin, a zinc-based injection, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The training will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 27 at the West Toledo Animal Hospital on W. Sylvania Ave.

Pet owners who would like their male dog(s) to participate should call the Lucas County Pit Crew at 419-708-8848 or by sending an email to canineadvocate1@yahoo.com.

Dogs that participate can also get a free rabies shot during the clinic.
