Local students running to raise money for bombing victims

The Bedford Junior High Girls' physical education class is running to raise money for victims of last week's terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon. Through next Friday students will run a half a mile during their regularly scheduled gym class. The goal is to accumulate 770 miles which is the distance between Toledo and Boston. The idea is the brainchild of Physical Education Teacher Kathy Bankowski. Student Patricia Bussell has already collected $40 in donations. "Well I was really shocked about what happened how the little girl lost her log and how her brother passed away," Patricia said. Patricia is referring to 8-year-old Martin Richard who died in the explosion. His older sister and mother were critically injured.

In addition to raising money many of the girls plan to write letters to Martin's sister Jane who had a leg amputated.
