Look out for strong storms Monday

Another day of warmth, humidity and a chance of storms ahead of a cold front which will usher in an unseasonably cool stretch of weather just in time to kick-off the Marathon Classic.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Monday. Temperatures will climb into the lower 80's by early afternoon and the humidity will make it feel a bit warmer. A dynamic cold front will move southeast and across NW Ohio as we get into this afternoon and initiate scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and hail and we could see some isolated storms reach severe criteria. Keep your umbrella handy and a plan to get somewhere safe in a hurry in case some of these storms should head towards your neighborhood.

Extended weather forecast

The frontal boundary and accompanying storms rumble east overnight and cool, dry high pressure builds in. Skies will turn partly cloudy overnight with much cooler lows falling into the upper 50's.

The sustained, refreshing stretch of weather gets underway Tuesday as we'll see plenty of sunshine by the afternoon and, with low humidity, high temps struggling to get into the lower 70's. We'll see similar temps Wednesday and Thursday under mostly sunny skies.

We'll start to warm back up to more seasonable levels Friday afternoon with highs jumping into the upper 70's under partly cloudy skies. Championship Weekend at Highland Meadows looks terrific with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 80's in store both Saturday and Sunday.

What a difference a year makes as last year we we're 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal norms with highs well into the 90's and +100 Heat Indicies. High temps for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal - in the low and mid 70's. Get your tickets now and enjoy!
