Lourdes University started construction Tuesday in its first steps of its mid-campus expansion project.

The university said the first phase cost around $2 million for a park that connects the main historic campus with its student housing. Lourdes University acquired about 10 acres of property off Brint and McCord roads.

Projects include renovating the admissions house off Convent Boulevard that is expected to be completed by February 2014. The building will receive interior and exterior designs that adhere to Americans with Disabilities standards, new flooring, ramps, and more offices.

A paved pathway will also be built to connect the main campus to Lourdes Commons. Improvements to parking space, landscaping are planned to be finished by August 2014.
