Lucas County housing residents alerted to fraud

Officials are warning Lucas County residents of public housing that someone may be trying to steal their money.

The Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) said Thursday that they have been made aware that someone is posing as an LMHA employee while attempting to collect cash deposits from residents.

The fake employee carries the ID #4789 and is asking residents for cash deposits for Section 8 vouchers.

Officials say they will never send LMHA staff to collect cash deposits for any of its programs or services.

Lucas County residents are being asked to refuse to provide any personal information or cash payments to anyone claiming to be collecting on behalf of LMHA.

Anyone who receives a suspicious request is asked to immediately call LMHA Deputy Executive Director Ivory Mathews at 419-259-9540.
