Lucas County leaders are taking on the heroin and prescription pill epidemic gripping the region.
On Wednesday, Lucas County Sheriff John Tharp and county commissioners announced a coordinated campaign to combat rising overdose deaths. They say part of the focus will be to hold drug dealers responsible for overdoses.

Sheriff Tharp has dedicated three full-time and one part-time detective to investigate overdoses. So far this year in Lucas County, there have been 60 unintentional drug overdose deaths. There were 80 in all of 2013.
