Major traffic issues on I-75 at Berdan may last hours, Drivers should avoid area

Update: All lanes have re-opened following the crash.

Toledo Police say that major traffic issues remain along both sides of I-75, at the Berdan Exit, following a fuel spill.

At 7:00 pm, 911 dispatchers were still reporting that both sides of the Expressway were either shut down or moving slowly following an accident that happened just after 5 pm.

The Ohio Department of Transportation's website, however, says that only the left lane is closed near mile marker 205.

ODOT indicates that the estimated time of re-opening is unknown but adds that motorists should expect delays.

Emergency crews are on the scene dealing with a spill of diesel fuel that happened during the crash.

Around 5:30 pm the northbound lanes at the exit were closed as crews worked to rescue someone from a vehicle involved in the accident.

Authorities say motorists should stay away from the area, for the evening, if possible.

ODOT's website offers real-time road conditions on accidents and other incidents on the roadway to help motorists plan their commute.
