Man acquitted of 2 murders gets jail time in unrelated case

      Lisa Straub and Johnny Clarke

An Oregon man, who was acquitted in 2012 of murdering a Springfield Township couple, is heading to prison for an unrelated crime.

On Monday, 23-year-old Cameo Pettaway was sentenced to 6 years in prison for beating up his girlfriend in October.

The altercation took place shortly after his release from prison on a pair of homicide charges.

In March, Pettaway pleaded no contest to the assault charge against him.

Last July, a judge threw out the murder charges against Pettaway, in the deaths of Lisa Straub and Johnny Clarke, citing lack of evidence.

Pettaway's former co-defendant, in the murders of the Springfield Township couple, Samuel Williams was sentenced to two life terms for their murders.
