Man charged with murdering Whitehouse woman in 1983 faces judge

Andrew Gustafson

A former Swanton Township man accused of murdering a Whitehouse woman 3 decades ago has waived his right to a speedy trial.

56-year-old Andrew Gustafson is facing two counts of aggravated murder and murder in the death of Janean Brown. The judge today set another pre-trial hearing for August 14.

Gustafson was arrested last month in Michigan. Authorities say he stabbed Brown to death in November, 1983.

Her body was found in a drainage ditch along Archbold Whitehouse Road in Whitehouse.

The case had been cold until 2011 when it was reopened.
