A man and five children were killed Sunday morning after a fire inside their Tiffin mobile home.
According to Tiffin Police, the fire was reported shortly before 8 a.m. at lot #128 of the Highland Trailer Park, 686 S. Sandusky St. When rescue crews arrived at the scene, the mobile home was partially engulfed in flames.
A man and five small children were rescued from the home and transported to a nearby hospital. All six were later pronounced dead, most likely due to smoke inhalation.
Authorities identified the deceased as Timothy Fresch, 25, and his infant son. Fresch's girlfriend, Anna Angel, was at work at the time of the fire. Her four daughters were also killed in the blaze.
Angel is staying with her mother in Tiffin as the State Fire Marshal's Office works to determine the cause of the fire. It is unclear if working smoke detectors were installed in the mobile home.
Neighbors told WNWO that a fight took place outside the mobile home Saturday night. Investigators have not said whether that alleged fight was a factor in the cause of the fire.
