      Man wanted for east Toledo dog shooting captured after months on the run

      26-year-old Marcus Crawford is now behind bars, according to Toledo Police

      An East Toledo man who police say shot a stray dog without cause has been captured after nearly three months on the run.

      26-year-old Marcus Crawford is now behind bars, according to Toledo Police. The east Toledo man was wanted in connected to the shooting of a defenseless German Shepherd along Clark Street in late March.

      The dog, later given the name 'June', had to have its leg amputated as a result of the shooting.

      Crawford faces several charges, including cruelty to animals and weapons charges. Police said witnesses identified Crawford as the gunman.

      Earlier this month, Crawford's cousin, 35-year-old Gary Crawford, was sentenced to 90 days in jail for lying to police during their investigation of the shooting.
