Hours after a county-wide manhunt began, authorities in Wood County have called off the search for a man they say robbed a Bowling Green pharmacy at gunpoint Monday morning.
The suspect, Matthew Stoughton, is said to have entered Jak's Pharmacy around 9:15 a.m. with a handgun. He demanded prescription drugs from a clerk before fleeing the scene.
A police chase ensued a short time later with Bowling Green police pursuing the suspect's vehicle. The vehicle pursuit ended at the intersection of Bradner Road and Eisenhour Road near Pemberville when Stoughton crashed the vehicle and fled on foot.
Authorities put up a perimeter around a cornfield where Stoughton was believed to have been hiding. K9s were brought in, along with a helicopter from Monroe County. However, the suspect has not been located.
Authorities had been searching the area since late Monday morning, but called off the search by mid-afternoon.
Stoughton is considered to be armed and dangerous.
If anyone comes into contact with the suspect they are asked to not take any enforcement action and contact Bowling Green Police Division immediately at 419-352-2571.
