The Marblehead Lighthouse, closed for the July 4th holiday because of cracks found in its structure, is now open after engineers determined the cracks did not compromise the structure, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Constructed in 1819, the Marblehead Lighthouse is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes and a popular tourist attraction on the Marblehead penninsula. The lighthouse and contiguous state park were dedicated in 1998.

Tours are available Monday through Friday, from 1:00 to 4:45 PM, Monday through Friday.
