A crowd of nearly 200 flag-waving supporters gathered in Toledo's Friendship Park for the 8th annual Support the Troops rally.
Members from all branches of the military were honored in Point Place Wednesday for their service to the country.
"We try to make people aware of our troops, and that there's still a war going on and we need to support them," said event organizer Dawn Heisler. She added, "It's great to see that people really rally and come out for our troops."
Deceased servicemen and women were honored with a 21-gun salute and bagpipers playing "Amazing Grace." The Springfield High School Junior R.O.T.C. Grenadiers Drill Team performed along with entertainment from a Johnny Cash cover band.
Navy Lt. Commander Vidal Valentin said, "Words cannot do justice to the kind of support that these great Americans do for us."
