Missing Detroit boy found alive in father's basement

DETROIT (AP) - Police Chief James Craig says a 12-year-old Detroit boy last seen about a week and a half ago has been found alive hiding in his father's basement.

Craig says officers were serving a search warrant at the home near downtown Wednesday afternoon when they stumbled upon Charlie Bothuell V.

It was the fourth time officers were inside the home, and Craig told reporters police are "not certain Charlie was here during those visits."

He says Charlie will be medically evaluated, but "appeared fine."

Craig earlier Wednesday said investigators weren't "ruling out the possibility of homicide" but still hoped to find Charlie alive.

Charlie Bothuell IV says he had no idea his son was in the basement. He's says he feared his son was dead and desperately wants to see him.
