Mom accused of tanning daughter says she's innocent

According to NBC News, the New Jersey mother who allegedly took her five-year-old daughter into a tanning salon is saying "don't judge a book by its cover".

On Thursday, Patricia Krentcil's attorney released a statement on her client's behalf.

It asked for privacy and time for Krentcil to prove her innocence, without people judging her based on her tanned appearance.

In addition, the statement said she is a loving mother who would never do anything to harm her child.

The 44-year-old says she is innocent of second degree child endangerment charges.

Krentcil is free on a twenty-five-hundred dollar cash bond.
