Monroe County pit bulls avoid being euthanized, for now

Four pit bulls, seized from a Monroe County dog fighting ring, have avoided being euthanized, for the time being. A private animal rescue group have taken the dogs in. Back in March, 9 dogs were taken, and more than 2 dozen people were arrested during a raid at a home on Ida-Maybee Road in Raisinville. Several of those dogs have been in the county's care.
The Monroe County Sheriff wants the dogs euthanized because he considers them "a danger to the public". However, the rescue group wants to rehabilitate the dogs, and have taken in four of them. A judge decide the ultimate fate of the dogs. The next deadline in the case is June 7th.
