An early Christmas gift is coming to Monroe County roads.
A news conference was held Thursday morning in Monroe, announcing $12 million will be used for road projects in the county.
A portion of $5 million will go to improving Samaria Road in Bedford Township.
Under the project, Samaria Road will be fixed from U.S. 23 to Telegraph Road.
Other funds have been allocated to improve Wabash Road at North Macon Creek and Wabash Road from Cone Road to North City Limits.
Traffic signals are planned to be built at Vivian Road and Cole Road.
About $1.4 million would be used to improve Tuttle Hill Road from Ostrander Road to Oakville Road.
The money for the project comes from the state roads and risk reserve. The projects should be completed by this time next year.
