Authorities in Monroe County, Michigan are asking the public for tips following the discovery of 57-year-old Robert Anthony Laboe's body Thursday morning.
The Monroe resident was found in a grassy area behind a car wash on Frenchtown Center Drive, in Frenchtown Township, covered in mud around 8:15 a.m.
Officials believe, before his death, Laboe was driving in the parking lot at the America's Best Value Inn when he drove into a muddy area and got stuck.
Investigators say he then fled the scene on foot, for an unknown reason, leaving his cell phone and keys near his truck.
A short time later his body would be found by a car wash employee.
Both drugs and alcohol appear to have played a factor in Laboe's death.
If you have any information on the case you're asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7530.
