Monroe Street traffic stop leads to Toledo pot bust

A traffic stop on Monroe Street led to a pot bust, Thursday, April 17.

A routine traffic stop led to a drug bust by Ohio state troopers in Toledo last week.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says they pulled over a Chevrolet Suburban around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 for license plate violations, marked lanes, and failure to signal.

During the traffic stop, along Monroe Street in Toledo, troopers smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana.

A search of the vehicle revealed a pound and a half of pot, worth nearly $6,500. The stashed hash was found underneath the vehicle's center console.

Troopers also found several scales and plastic bags.

The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Antwaun J. Turner, of Toledo, was carrying $4,400 in cash on him.

Turner faces charges of possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana. He is being held in the Lucas County Jail.
