More than 200 new jobs headed to Sandusky

Kalahari Resort in Sandusky broke ground on a $22 million expansion that will more than double the size of its convention center and will create 239 new jobs at the facility.

The expansion should take approximately nine months and will increase meeting capacity from 2,200 people to 5,200 people.

In addition to the expansion of the convention center, Todd Nelson, owner of the resort convention center, also announced Thursday that the resort will start construction on six "Ny-Um-Ba- Entertainment Units" which will increase the total guest room count from 884 to 890.

Kalahari officials expect the construction to be complete in December 2011.
