Mother Nature rains on the opening day of the Lucas Co Fair

Abundant sunshine and temps in the 80's greeted patrons who were the first to walk through the Lucas County Fairgrounds for the 155th edition of the Lucas County Fair. Jeremy Janiszewski, his wife and three children drove from Erie, Michigan. "We look forward to it every summer; the kids love it, there's great food and great entertainment," Mr. Janiszewski said.

But by mid afternoon the heavy rains that have been Northwest Ohio's constant companion for the last week returned. Fair spokeswoman Tina Buchhop says the bad weather of the last several days has impeded Fair preparations. "It has been challenging, but we have been trying to accomodate the patrons with the all of the muddy conditions," Ms. Buchhop said.

The Lucas County Fair runs through Sunday. More rain is expected on Wednesday, but bettter weather is expected by Thursday.
