It's been four years since Toledo Detective Keith Dressel was killed in the line of duty. Today, a few hundred bikes revved up for the fifth annual memorial ride in his honor. Dressel was shot after interrupting a drug deal on Ontario Street back in February of 2007, when he was shot and killed.
Organizers say this is the biggest the ride has ever been and a great way to remember Dressel, who was an upstanding officer.
We're supporting our officers that have given the ultimate sacrifice by remembering them but we're also supporting law enforcement with our up and coming. We have a scholarship fund with Owens Community College that we support with all the proceeds here and people love it, said Sara Shaw, the event chair.
Dressel was a member of the Toledo Police Department for 14 years. He left behind a wife, two kids, his parents and two siblings.
