The Ohio State Highway Patrol closed down U.S. 23 for a two-vehicle fatality crash Tuesday.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. U.S. 23 south of milepost 6 in Loudon Township. Officials shutdown U.S. 23 for three hours to rush emergency crews onto the scene.
Cindy Ann Hoepf, 50, of Alvada, Ohio was traveling southbound when she slowed down to make a left turn into a private drive when she was struck by a motorcyclist according to police.
Authorities said the driver of the motorcycle, Kenneth L. Pelton, 43, of Carey, Ohio, began passing southbound traffic when Pelton hit Hoepf. Pelton was thrown off his motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Pelton had not been wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. Officials have not yet determined if alcohol was a factor. Hoepf did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash.
