Motorcyclist not wearing helmet in crash

A Perrysburg man has been hospitalized after a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning just north of SR 795 in Perrysburg Township.

Troopers say Carl Coble, Jr., 52, of Perrysburg was riding a Harley Davidson Sportster north on Oregon Road just before 6:30 a.m. when he struck a Jeep Cherokee driven which was turning left onto the road.

The Jeep, driven by John Burkhart, 42, of Bowling Green, was exiting the Huntington Bank parking lot by making a left turn onto Oregon Rd. The motorcycle struck the SUV on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Coble was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was taken by Life Flight to the University of Toledo Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Burkhart was wearing a seatbelt. He was taken by EMS to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. There is no word on his condition.
