Motorists consider alternate routes ahead of High Level Bridge closure

The countdown is on to Monday's shutdown of the High Level Bridge.

The span that links east Toledo to downtown, will officially close for construction March 17th.

Drivers like Cheniqua Gibson are considering alternate routes, "mostly going to have to go over the Cherry Street bridge and the Craig bridge," explains Gibson.

Regardless of which way drivers get around, they'll be doing it until the bridge re-opens in September 2015.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, the $28.7 million dollar project will include a major overhaul from the deck to the lights.

"I'm from the Douglas area, so there's been closures around there often. So, I'm kind of used to this construction going on in the city," explains driver Corey Mershon.

ODOT says even after the bridge is re-opened to traffic in September 2015, construction will continue for another three months.
