National Fire Prevention Week kicks off

Do you know two ways to get out of your home in case of a fire?

It can take just a few minutes for a home to become completely engulfed in flames. That's why 'Have 2 Ways Out' is the theme of this years National Fire Prevention week.

"It is important to have a home fire escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds. What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? That's why having two ways out is such a key part of your plan," says the Nation Fire Prevention Association website.

The Sylvania Township Fire Department will be hosting their first Fire Safety Festival this Saturday. Fire fighters will be working with the schools to get the fire safety education out. Along with this children may enter a drawing for tons of bicycles and safety helmets provided by local business sponsors by performing additional fire safety tasks.\
