NCAA hockey fans ready for Midwest Regional

The Glass City is hockeytown this weekend, as the 2013 NCAA Menâ??s Ice Hockey Midwest Regional skated into the Huntington Center.

Fans converged on Toledo from all over the Midwest. Some traveled from as far as Montana and Minnesota, donning their favorite teamâ??s colors to cheer them on. Many pre-gamed at local bars like the Blarney, which hosted an alumni party for fans of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

â??We are going to win this game, that is our expectations,â?? said Paola Voran, mother to Notre Dame player Mike Voran. She predicted, â??Then weâ??re going to go and win tomorrow and weâ??re going to the Frozen Four and weâ??re gonna take it all.â??

Four teams will compete in this weekendâ??s


, one of four regional sites where the winners will advance to the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, Pa. to play for the Division 1 championship.

On Saturday, Saint Cloud State defeated Notre Dame 5-1, after the Fighting Irish emerged as the number one seed as champions of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Minnesota State and Miami of Ohio play at 5 p.m. The winner of that contest will play St. Cloud State on Sunday at 4 p.m. for a trip to the Frozen Four.
