The Northwest Ohio chapter of a pot legalization group is ramping up efforts to decriminalize marijuana in the city of Toledo.
NORML (the National Organization For the Reform of Marijuana Laws) spoke about their Sensible Marijuana Initiative on Monday and the success they have seen in their petitioning drive to get the issue before voters.
The group's initiative pushes to make marijuana possession in Toledo a minor misdemeanor in an effort to help free up Toledo Police to investigate more serious crimes.
NORML has so far collected 2,800 of 6,600 signatures needed to place the issue on the November ballot. The group is also pushing a statewide measure to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
