ODOT explains plans for Anthony Wayne Bridge work to residents

The High Level Bridge will get a $28.7 million makeover that's set to begin in less than two weeks.

The bridge is set to close Monday, March 17 and will be off limits for more than a year for a Ohio Department of Transportation project.

Drivers who use the High Level Bridge that connects downtown to east Toledo will have to find a different route.

"Finally. It's going to be great to see it done. I wonder how they're going to do it," explained Evan Reneau, a Toledo resident who walks over the bridge often.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced at a Wednesday meeting in downtown Toledo the project will include re-decking the bridge, replacing the existing truss end spans, replacing street lighting and rebuilding sidewalks, railings, and fences.

If you weren't able to make it to the meeting, the City of Toledo will hold another public forum next week, Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the East Toledo Family Center to discuss their plans during the bridge closure.
