Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jerry Wray traveled to Toledo on Wednesday to announce the substantial completion of construction on the Interstate 75/475 near Promedica Hospital.
"Our mission at the Department of Transportation is the easy movement of goods and people from place to place," Mr. Wray said. ODOT says the $67 million project will improve safety at the Interstate 75/475 Interchange in central Toledo and reduce congestion by widening Interstate 475 from Interstate 75 to Monroe Street.
Owners of local businesses located near the area are happy that the construction project is complete. Eric Biler is manager of The Flower Market. "It's nice that people will be able to get through without the construction anymore and have a nice lead into the hospital and surrounding community," Mr. Biler said.
Workers will fully complete the work in the next several days and ODOT will begin opening the ramps next week.
