WATERVILLE - The Ohio Department of Transportation has presented three options to replace the aging Waterville Bridge over the Maumee River.
Lucas and Wood County residents attended the ODOT meeting held Thursday at Waterville Primary School. The project proposes a wider bridge, which includes installing a roundabout at State Route 64/65 intersection.
The options include building a new bridge immediately next to the current bridge. ODOT officials also discussed building a bridge angling across the Maumee River towards Farnsworth Road.
The final option would be to replace the current bridge and build a new one in its place, which would require closing State Route 64 River crossing for at least a year.
ODOT plans to replace the bridge starting in 2017 at a cost of $18 million to $21 million.
The public can submit comments in writing until April 10.
