Two off-duty law enforcement officers helped catch a Tennessee fugitive, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Officials arrested 60-year-old Jimmy Clayton, a convicted killer, who was wanted on a parole violation.
Authorities said one of their deputies saw a suspicious man carrying a duffel bag on Sterns Road near Whiteford Center Road on Sunday.
Deputy Mary Linzie made a background search on Clayton and discovered he was wanted for arrest in Tennessee.
Clayton tried to resist arrest and flee the scene.
Nearby, a Toledo police officer and a Michigan Department of Corrections officer were off-duty when they saw what was happening. Both officers started to follow the fleeing man, eventually tackling him before he was taking into custody.
The fugitive is being held at the Monroe County Jail, awaiting extradition.
