      Offender re-entry program receives federal funding

      Toledo receives federal award for offender re-entry program in Toledo.
      WASHINGTON D.C. ?? The Criminal Justice Coordination Council is receiving a federal award of $416,647 for an offender re-entry program in Toledo.The U.S. Justice Department is awarding these funds as part of the Second Chance Act of 2007.This act was put into place to help local communities respond to the increasing numbers of adults and juveniles released from prison. The Act??s focus is to help offenders re-enter the community through jobs, housing, and with substance abuse/mental health treatment.??It is increasingly important that we see offenders make successful transitions back into the community,?? said U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur (OH-9). ??It directly affects our community??s security.??The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is a 13-member government unit consisting of criminal justice professionals, elected officials and citizen representatives.
