Washington Township officials are investigating what caused at least a dozen CSX train cars to jump tracks Monday night.
Officials said the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. on Main Street in Tontogany. The street will remain closed until further notice.
Eighteen cars on the 60-car CSX train jumped the tracks, according to the Washington Township Assistant Fire Chief Bill Gase.
"Most of them were empty, a few had some scrap metal in it, so no hazardous materials, so no major problems in the town here, " said Gase.
Nobody was injured. Two buildings nearby had minor damage from the derailment as part of the train the the back of the fire station.
