Officials identify driver killed in crash at Dundee rest area

Officials have identified the driver killed in a crash at a Dundee rest area on Friday.

Investigators said 86-year-old John D. Pollock, of Whitehouse, was driving his Pontiac mini-van northbound on U.S. 23 in Summerfield Township around 12:30 p.m. The van exited the highway near the Dundee Welcome Center Rest area and continued into the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The van crashed into a recreational camper and trailer.

Pollock was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

      No other injuries were reported.

Authorities have not ruled out if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Monroe Community Ambulance, Whiteford and Summerfield Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
