Ohio apple crop looking ripe this year

Ohio apple crops looking bigger and better this year.

â??Everybody is looking really good this year," says farmer Jeff MacQueen about apple crops across the state.

This year apples are bigger and better than the past two years. Farmers attribute the fruit's growth to the cool summer we are experiencing.

MacQueen says the late spring is a plus for apple growers because the colder nights delay dormancy which is good for growth and color.

MacQueen Orchards is picking honey crisp apples next week but are holding off on picking red delicious apples until October. The orchards are located on Garden and Gunn Roads in Holland.
