COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An man who parachuted off a broadcast tower on the Ohio State University campus has been sentenced to one year probation.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that 22-year-old James Allen Hare pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of trespassing.
Franklin County Municipal Judge Carrie Glaeden found Hare guilty of jumping off the 893-foot tower on May 10. Police arrested Hare after he landed in a nearby cornfield.
Columbus does not have a law banning people from parachuting off tall structures. Still, individuals can be accused of trespassing.
The newspaper reports the tower does not have a ladder and is fenced.
Ohio State police have said it's the first time they've known about anyone jumping from the tower on the western edge of the campus.
